One of the most underrated sports at Kerman High School is Tennis. Over the past few years, the Lady Lions have made a huge impression on the courts. Under the mentorship and guidance of past Tennis Coach, Giancarlo Martinelli, and new Head Coach, Mandy Porto, the girls had a great overall record and triumphed in various tournaments. For the past three years, they have been League Champions and have not lost a single game in the past two years. This year the girls delivered great numbers. The team had an overall record of 19-0! Obviously, these girls were not here just to play, they meant business and worked to make a name for themselves.
Lady Lion, Jennifer Ramirez, had another memorable season as number one for Varsity. With a record of 18-0 in Singles and 20-0 in Doubles, she has made quite the appearance this year. She said, “This season has been one of the best yet. The girls have proven over and over, the recognition they deserve. Our record shows what we are made of. We have had only three home games this season. Even with all those hours on the road, we have never lost our spirit and have thrived together.” But they are not stopping there. At Playoffs, they were undefeated and proudly advanced to Valley.
Unfortunately, the Lady Lions met defeat by one point. Nonetheless, they poured their hearts out on the court and off the court with good sportsmanship. Kerman High is very proud of the Tennis Lady Lions, great job girls!
