Lions Homecoming Success Leads to Possible 3rd Seed – Ricky Oaks

The Lions are officially on track to their best season in history at Kerman High School. Despite their week one heart breaker, the Lions have built up a résumé and are planning on backing it up. They have posted big wins with their win in week two over Madera South 27-14 and their recent victory over their D-3 rival Chowchilla 35-20. Plus, in their games from week three to week six, they have outscored their opponents 227-71. They proved early on and throughout that they had a strong run game, lead by Quarterback Sean Chambers, and Running Backs Christopher Acosta , Colton Smith, and Isaac Velez.
Then on October 6th, Sean got to show off why he is being recruited for Division 1 football. He went 10-13 for 180 yards passing with two touchdown passes. Both touchdown passes were toward Senior Receiver Charlie Castellanos, who caught 5 passes and went for 126 yards. However it isn’t just the offense championing the cause. Their defense has been dominant all year, and it showed against the Tribe offense. Matthew Limon proved to be a menace to Chowchilla as he had seven tackles and an interception. Then, if that wasn’t enough, Grant Garewal and Tyler Wright Celaya each had 6 tackles. To top it off, they had a 74 Yard Interception return for a Touchdown by no other than Sean Chambers.
The Lions have had their week off in preparation for their game in over 1,600 feet in altitude, as they get ready for their next game against the Sierra Chieftains. Despite taking it one week at a time, everyone is focused on their match-up following this, which could determine who gets the number three seed in playoffs. The match-up is at Liberty-Madera against the number fifth ranked Hawks (according to Pagmeter’s Division 4 Week 9 rankings). But for now, Kerman just have to focus one week at a time and continue this hot streak of theirs.
